Texas Motorplex Announces Partnership with Komen Greater CETX
Texas Motorplex welcomes local breast cancer foundation to the 2019 AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals
(ENNIS, TX) – October 12, 2019 – It’s no surprise that Texas Motorplex has always been a supporter of breast cancer awareness. Using different approaches to bring awareness to the public, Texas Motorplex has saved the biggest approach for the 2019 AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals by partnering with Susan G. Komen® Greater Central & East Texas.
With a huge operation like Texas Motorplex, opportunity always presents itself to be the stage for promoting a good cause. Texas Motorplex has long focused October around breast cancer awareness. In years past, Texas Motorplex has painted the starting line pink during select October events. One October, Texas Motorplex gave fans pink t-shirts to help bring awareness to Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Another fan favorite was Texas Motorplex partnering up with Texas native and Top Fuel Funny Car driver Alexis DeJoria to arrange for free mammogram screenings for women who attended the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals at previous year’s events.
This year, at the NHRA Fall Nationals Texas Motorplex is showcasing the local Affiliate of Susan G. Komen, the world’s largest and most well-known organization that focuses on the breast cancer epidemic. Komen has an unmatched, comprehensive, 360-degree approach to fighting this disease across all fronts and supporting millions of people in the U.S. and in countries worldwide. The organization advocates for patients, drives research breakthroughs, improves access to high-quality care, offers direct patient support and empowers people with trustworthy information. Born out of a promise between two sisters, Susan G. Komen remains committed to supporting those affected by breast cancer today, while tirelessly searching for tomorrow’s cures.
Komen Greater Central and East Texas, the Komen Affiliate that serves 58 Texas counties including Ellis County, will be set up at Texas Motorplex at the 2019 AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals on October 17–20. Fans are welcome to stop by and visit with the representatives on site about what the organization is doing to help find cures and better treatments, upcoming walks and other events that Komen Greater Central and East Texas hosts, and ways they can get assistance if they are going through the breast cancer journey.
“We’re excited to put Komen Greater Central and East Texas on such a huge stage at our upcoming Nationals during the month of October. This is an excellent partnership between the two of us,” Texas Motorplex General Manager Andy Carter said.
“We are proud and excited to partner with Texas Motorplex during Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” said Suzanne Stone, Executive Director of Komen Greater Central and East Texas. “Funds we raise during this event will stay in our surrounding communities to provide mammograms, treatment, and survivorship. We are looking forward to seeing all of the More Than Pink Motorplex fans next weekend!”
