Texas Mamma Jamma Ride has opened registration and fundraising for its 12th annual event, scheduled for September 19, 2020. The registrants for the ride fundraise to support breast cancer organizations that serve Central Texas.

In an open letter to the Central Texas community, Texas Mamma Jamma Ride Executive Director Marion Martin emphasized why it’s particularly critical now to engage with their ride.

“Breast cancer doesn’t care about COVID-19,” Martin said. “In the days and weeks ahead, hundreds of Central Texans will be diagnosed, undergo surgery, and will start radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Their immune systems will be compromised, putting them at greater risk for the virus. Families impacted by breast cancer will struggle even more than before. They need our support.”

In the next six months leading up to the event, Texas Mamma Jamma Ride is following all recommended precautions, such as exploring ways to go virtual with their training programs in advance of the event.

“Don’t let COVID-19 stop you from registering to ride, fundraising, and donating,” says Martin. “Our beneficiaries, Breast Cancer Resource Center, Komen Greater Central and East Texas, Ascension Seton Breast Care Center, Wonders & Worries, Team Survivor, Community Action Central Texas, and Sustainable Food Center, haven’t stopped serving the breast cancer fighters and survivors in our community. Now more than ever, we are counting on your continued support.”
